Cryogenic storage

Wesbart has a range of products that have been specially developed for use in cryogenic storage containers. These include vertical cold rooms for storing cryoboxes, bases and frames, canisters for storing straw, and cassettes for storing blood bags. Blood Bag Cassettes

Cassettes are a safe way of storing and protecting blood bags. When dropped the design of the cassette protects the blood bag by absorbing the shock. Cassettes are manufactured in aluminium but are also available in stainless steel.

Canisters

Canisters are an effective way to store goblets in all types of liquid nitrogen and vapour freezers. Canisters are made from anodised Aluminium tube for increased strength. The base of the canisters is perforated to allow for air flow. The standard size canisters have a diameter of 70mm or 75mm and can be designed at any length required.

All canisters come with stainless steel lifters to allow easy use to remove the goblets quickly with gloves on. There are two different lifter designs, the 70mm diameter canisters can only take the basic lifter whereas the 75mm can take a sectioned lifter. Lifters are available with labels to help identify them.

Cassette Frames

Cassette carriers are designed to hold blood bag cassettes in liquid nitrogen vessels. Use the drop down boxes above to select the blood bag you are storing and the Taylor Wharton vessel you wish to use. Please contact us for a quotation if you have a liquid nitrogen vessel from an alternative manufacture.

All racks have a handle on the top and are supplied with a lifting rod to easily remove the rack from the vessel, racks are manufactured from aluminium. These racks hold cassettes in single compartments, if you require a rack to hold a cassette not listed below or more than one cassette per aperture please contact us for a quotation.

Cryogenic support frames are also available to hold racks in position these are recommend if the vessel is holding a larger quantity of racks. Racks have the option of plastic engraved numbered labels to be fitted to the handles to easily identify the required rack.

Rack layouts can be provided to show how many racks will fit in a preferred vessel.It is possible to mix the use of a vessel to hold cassette racks and cryobox racking.

Cryogenic support frames

Frames are an effective way of storing blood bag boxes in liquid nitrogen vessels. Frames are manufactured in aluminium or stainless steel. They are designed in sections so they are easy to fit in the vessel. Frames have 30mm holes to allow the circulation of liquid nitrogen.

The design of a frame depends on what the user wishes to store and can be designed to fit all liquid nitrogen vessels on the market. For vapour phase vessels frames are designed to hold items above the liquid level.
Blood bags are the most popular item to be stored in a
frame system. Blood bags are placed into boxes which
fit neatly into the frame maximizing the storage use of a
vessel.

Plinths

Plinths are used for vapour phase vessels to stop items being placed in the liquid. Plinths are supplied in two halves and placed on the base of the vessel. Plinths are available in aluminium or stainless steel and have holes in to allow the vapour to circulate effectively around the vessel.

Vertical Cold Stores

Verticals for storage in cryogenic vessels are similar to the verticals used in chest freezers. They are available with locking rods, spring clips, shelf lips and labels. They are manufactured in aluminium or stainless steel. Vertical cold stores for cryogenic vessels are also available with adjustable shelves ideal for storing different size microtiter plates. The shelves can be easily removed and re-positioned to store different size items.

Verticals are also available with different size apertures depending on your requirements. Verticals can be fitted with doors which are useful when storing blood bags to hold the bags in position. Cassette carriers are designed to hold aluminium cassettes in individual compartments, these can also be fitted with a door to retain the cassettes. 

All racks listed are sold complete with a locking bar, racks also available with spring clips 

Hanging Rod Racks

Racks manufactured from anodised aluminium and feature a carbon insulated hanging rod designed to hook over the neck of the vessel. Racks are ideal for storing 2inch or 4inch cryoboxes.
